It was February of 2011 as I laid in a hospital gurney unable to feel anything below my chest, having nearly died the night before, when the most overwhelming emotions of fear, anxiety and hopelessness came over me. Would I ever walk again? Would I ever run with my children? How was I going to earn money and provide for my family? And so much more... I had taken a prescribed drug, that had had a horrific side affect, nearly killing me, and leaving me without any feeling below my chest.I understand all too well the drak and deep despair that comes over people through no fault of their own. This podcast investigates the recent warning issued by the Consumper Protection and Safety Commission who alerted parents across the country to stop using, in all respects, any and all infant sleepers. This warning occurs on the heels of increased reporting of deaths associated with the devices, having had 40 deaths reported through April, now up to 73 as of the date of this podcast.
