It was February of 2011 as I laid in a hospital gurney unable to feel anything below my chest, having nearly died the night before, when the most overwhelming emotions of fear, anxiety and hopelessness came over me. Would I ever walk again? Would I ever run with my children? How was I going to earn money and provide for my family? And so much more... I had taken a prescribed drug, that had had a horrific side affect, nearly killing me, and leaving me without any feeling below my chest.I understand all too well the drak and deep despair that comes over people through no fault of their own. As of January 1st, 2020, California Assembly Bill 218, also known as the Child Abuse Victim Act, provides children who were victims of sexual abuse - and who have otherwise failed to file a lawsuit within the applicable statute of limitations - now three years to file a claim against the perpetrator(s) and/or entity responsible.
